For Mom's bday we wanted to do something special so we booked a 3 bedroom house up at Harrison Hot Springs for the weekend. We had a nice relaxing drive up on the Friday night and got settled in. What a cute house and for such a steal!
Saturday was pretty wet in the morning so we enjoyed a late breakfast with Mimosas and everything else you can imagine. Cooking was a bit of a challenge because the kitchen wasn't quite set up for cooking full meals for 8 but we managed ok. The guys and Mads had naps while Caits, Shan and I took a spin at Disney Scene-it. I love playing games with 5 year olds - they always win! The house backed onto a little river so we frequently had visits from the geese and ducks that lived there. I fed them some bread with Caits while Mads watched on.
We then made a trip down to the beach where the famous sand castle competition had taken place just a couple weeks before. Because we had Charlie with us, and no blind dogs allowed inside, we took turns wandering around the incredible sculptures. They were pretty impressive! The girls got to play at the playground for a bit and then back home again for an impressive steak n shrimp dinner with lots of special extras for Mom.
Sunday was another quiet day that included a walk to the natural hot springs and fish n chip dinner. Then we headed home on Monday with lunch in Mission and of course not without stopping for Mom in Mission to browse the antique shops. I love the smell of old furniture!
Happy Birthday Mom! We hope you enjoyed your special weekend - you always go to so much trouble for everyone else and never put yourself first. Well this one was for you. Thanks for all you do - we love you so much!
